Avast me hearties! Steer your vessel to the Port of Anacortes 5th Annual Anacortes Workboat Races and Pirate Faire at Historic Pier 1 on the Guemes Channel in downtown Anacortes Come and join us for our 5th annual race event - featuring those captains and crews who make their living on the water. Sea Chanties, Pirate Contests for all ages, a Chowder Challenge, and Cannons galore! There's fun for the whole family  with a multitude of events at Historic Pier 1, 100 Commercial Avenue. Activities include workboat races in a variety of classes, merchants, model boats, steam engine demonstrations, a classic car show, live music, chowder eating challenge, food, grog, and pirates galore.

John Wayne's former yacht "The Norwester" will be again participating this year.  She will be available for free tours at Cap Sante Boat Haven Guest Dock on August 24th from 9 am till noon.

The Norwester will be taking passengers on a four hour cruise from noon to four the same day to watch the Workboat Races and lead the parade of workboats in the Guemes Channel. Tickets for this non profit event are $75/each. A box lunch is included. Space is limited and can be booked by calling 360.708.7770. Neither Norwester nor her owner are receiving any consideration for this event. Money received for passage and lunch will be donated to the Anacortes Seafarers' Memorial Foundation. A 501 C 3 non profit.
 

There will be a remembrance ceremony and placing of a plaque with the names of those lost this year and a dedication at the Seafarers Memorial at eleven am to honor and remember those who went down to the sea in ships to work and were lost.

The Workboat Races and Pirate Faire is a fundraiser for the Anacortes Seafarers Memorial.
