It’s finally time to garden! Do you have any questions or challenges this year? Then here’s a free event for you: “Create Your Own Garden Workshop,” at the Burlington Public Library, Saturday May 19. Held from 10:00 a.m. until noon, this is a chance to meet a gardening expert and get great advice and ideas for your specific interests and challenges. We’ll start at 10:00 by grouping together similar questions.
River Elderholly will field questions and generate answers and ideas for gardeners of any knowledge or experience level. River is a lifelong gardener who has organized and participated in Farmer’s Markets for 18 years, as well as serving as a Board member for both Oregon Tilthe/Spokane and the Washington Farmer’s Market Association.
Topics could include garden planning, local supplies, insect control, companion planting, soil health, producing food from containers, how to garden without spending much money, small-yard gardens, what to plant… whatever you need to know, River can help you find the answers. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Burlington Library, and offered to the public at no charge. For more information, visit www.burlington.lib.wa.us, or call 755-0760.
If you’re not able to attend the event, you can still help us. Let the world know what’s going on here at the library! Use your Facebook page, blog, or even just an email list of local friends. Help us promote these free, valuable community resources.
