Birmingham Royal Ballet will be screened at Lincoln Theatre on November 12 and 20, 2011. Both performances are at 2:00pm.
Lincoln Theatre, located at 712 South 1st Street, Mount Vernon, is broadcasting the production as part of its Cinema Meets Dance Series in high definition.
The spellbinding new production is set to the timeless music of Prokofiev and choreographed by one of Britain’s leading dance talents David Bintley.
The story delves deeper into Cinderella’s dark and dreary life as an orphan. She cherishes a pair of her mother’s ballet slippers which become a metaphor for love. As the story spins, the Fairy
Godmother casts the illusion of her Mother.
According to the Daily Post, this latest version of the beloved fairy tale has not only given it a new lease on life, “but a new standard by which Cinderella will be judged from now on.”
Commenting further, the Post states “From the corps de ballet through to the principal dancers this dance is as fresh as paint and as warm as a winter’s punch and just about as intoxicating.”
