FIRST THURSDAY ART WALK SKAGIT VALLEY ART ESCAPE October 2, 2014 5-8 PM On the first weekend of each month from April-October, the Skagit Valley Art Escape invites out-of-area visitors to spend the weekend experiencing art activities in the Skagit Valley communities of Mount Vernon, Anacortes, Edison, and La Conner. During October, the MVDA is pleased to present a show by Kris Ekstrand Molesworth, a Bay View painter and printmaker, at the Front Gallery, 420 Myrtle. Her work is inspired by the estuarine farmlands of the Skagit River watershed and has been exhibited in one-person shows at Skagit Valley College, Moses Lake Museum and Smith & Vallee Gallery (Edison). Her work on view includes monotypes and large scale drawings of the lower Skagit farmlands as well as earlier ones from the upper valley landscape. The Art in the Alleys Committee will also feature a demonstration by metal-smith artists, Neil Harrigan, owner of Devil?s Mountain Forge, and John McLain, both from Conway. Neil has been creating iron art for more than 25 years, and John McLain has more than 20 years? experience. Neil and John will showcase their techniques in Pine Square from 5-8 pm. The October 2, Art Walk will include 15 downtown venues featuring work by local and regional artists.
