Mission and Values
Chinook Enterprises is a social enterprise – we are designed to operate like a business, but we have a social mission:
Supporting full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers.
Throughout the years, Chinook has helped people live more productive and fulfilling lives by striving to gain competitive employment for people with disabilities, as well as inclusion in the community.
We now have over 25,000 square feet of offices and production facilities, with 70 staff members serving about 200 people with a wide range of disabilities annually. Since 1980 we have helped place over 1,000 people in jobs.

Our Speaker this month is Michael Frazier of the Helping Hands Food Bank
Skagit County’s largest emergency food provider. Last year we distributed 1,216,128 pounds of food to over 31,000 families, representing over 125,000 individuals. The number of clients relying on our assistance in 2012 increased by 12%; we served nearly 13,000 more individuals this year than last.
We serve between 650 and 750 families (representing 2,400-3,500 individuals) each week. Over 60% our clients are either children or seniors. There is a sizable population of either physically or mentally disabled. Many are working, yet are unable to meet their families basic needs which includes food.
As a nonprofit organization, we network with local food providers and community organizations in order to provide the best services possible. We are only able to provide the support we give because of the generous support we receive from our local community.
