Kristin Smith, CEO of Code Fellows, a very innovative Seattle-based company which provides a programming bootcamp that guarantees its students a salary of at least $60,000 after graduation, will be our keynote speaker. Code Fellows launched in January of 2013. The program was recently praised by President Obama and has received prominent coverage in the New York Times, U.S. News and World Report, the Huffington Post and other media.Kristen brings over 15 years of experience building businesses through new products and operations at companies like Amazon.com and zulily to her role as CEO of Code Fellows. She is continually humbled and excited to be a part of helping people change their lives through learning to code and proud to help companies find the software development talent they need to continue to innovate and grow.
Kirsten will discuss state of the art workforce development and how we can grow the Skagit tech industry.
Joining Kristen on our program to discuss Skagit workforce development initiatives will be:
• Linton Porteous, DigiPen Game & App Development instructor, Skagit Valley College
• Ryan Beatty, Director of Career and Technical Education programs at Mount Vernon High School
Following the lunch, we’ll have an opportunity to tour the exciting new computer lab at Skagit Valley College.
