Name: Novelist Tom Robbins and B is For Beer in the Children's Museum of Skagit Co.
Date: July 14, 2012
Time: 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
Join us for a rare and wonderful opportunity to meet internationally acclaimed novelist Tom Robbins, and celebrate “B is for Beer- A Children’s Book for Grown-ups and A Grown-up Book for Children”. A reading and book signing will be accompanied by local brews and appetizers, taking place inside the Children’s Museum of Skagit County on July 14th from 6:30 – 10:00pm!

Inspired by a cartoon in the New Yorker with a caption that said, “I doubt that a children’s book about beer would sell”, Robbins took up the challenge and penned this informative book that speaks across generations.  The book explores how young Gracie's quest to understand the appeal of beer, globally and in her own family, leads to discoveries about the history and culture of beer from ancient times to the present, but more importantly, about life itself.  The wit, humor and substance make this book a delight for all ages!

“It’s never too late to have a happy childhood”, according to Robbins.  Experience the museum’s environment that celebrates the power of play and nurture your inner child!  Located inside the Cascade Mall, the museum offers a variety of exhibits including a real 21 foot Tugboat, a Semi-Truck cab, Theatre, Crane, Toddler Farmyard, Dental Exhibit, Science Zone, Farmer’s Market, Art Studio and more!  Where better to indulge in fun than inside a Children’s Museum?

Tickets are $65 each or two for $100.  They can be purchased by calling the museum at 360-757-8888, or online at www.skagitchildrensmuseum.net.  Beer, wine and appetizers are included with purchase of tickets.  This is an adult only event!

A variety of Tom Robbins’ nine novels will be available for purchase at the event, provided by The Tattered Page.

The event is a fundraiser for the Children’s Museum of Skagit County, supporting operations and our Phenomenal Capital Campaign.  The museum is grateful to Tom Robbins for his generous gift of sharing his unique views, talent and presence.  An organization such as ours, that serves all ages and is available to everyone, is a huge asset to the community.  Making certain it remains a viable resource now and in the future is a very worthy endeavor.
