Verdi’s works have been performed for almost two centuries and have had an impact far beyond the opera house. Based on a novel by Victor Hugo (who also wrote Les Misrables), Rigoletto tells the story of the deformed court jester whose quest to wreak vengeance on his daughter’s despoiler takes a tragic turn.
This production features returning star baritone Yuseok Oh as Rigoletto and Mount Vernon’s own Courtney Ruckman as his daughter Gilda, in her first principal role with Skagit Opera. Frequent Seattle Symphony soloist tenor, Ross Hauck, appears in his first performance as the Duke of Manua. Rigoletto opens on October 11, a one-day-late celebration of the bicentennial of Verdi’s birth.
Free lecture 45 minutes prior to each performance.
