Skagit Valley College New Lewis Hall Grand Opening
Grand opening of Charles Lewis Hall. Named for Charles Lewis, pioneer faculty member and first Dean of the College, the original Lewis Hall was among the first buildings constructed on the Skagit Valley College campus in 1959. The new, 70,000 square foot building will include environmentally friendly amenities including rain gardens and underground retention thanks that reuse rainwater to flush toilets, recycled content and locally manufactured building materials, and smart lighting and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. In addition, the parking area will have electric car charging stations and parking spaces for low emission vehicles. The building will be the central hub for all student services including admission, registration, financial aid, counseling, veterans', and adult basic education. Classrooms and faculty spaces for programs including math, English and literature, social and behavior science, and testing will be located there as well.
