Mount Vernon, WA - Skagit Regional Health is offering a two-part class on bike safety at the Vaux Retreat Center. Smart Cycling: Traffic Safety 101 for Adults is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to participants to make safe decisions while bike-riding in traffic for transportation, recreation, and health. The first session will be Thursday June 25th from 6-9 PM and the second session will be Saturday June 27th from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Vaux Retreat Center located on 3011 East Fir Street, Mount Vernon, WA. The two class sessions include 10 hours of instruction and practice. Successful completion of both class sessions will earn a Certificate of Completion from the League of American Bicyclists. Participants in the classes must be at least 18 years old and have their own bike and helmet. Classes are free for residents of Skagit County. There is a $ 75.00 fee for non-residents. Biking is a great form of transportation. It is accessible, great exercise, and an activity many people already know how to perform. By providing these classes, participants will gain the skills to confidently incorporate biking into their routine enhancing their own physical health and contributing to a greener community.
