BURLINGTON – Margie Wilson returns as Miss Clara Garl-Morrison, Burlington’s first school teacher for the Burlington Historical Society’s Second Annual Cemetery Tour. The tour’s program: “The Silent Stones Speak!” will demystify the often obscure meanings behind gravestone icons of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.  Meet at the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery office, 11157 Gardner Road, Burlington at 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 18.  The cemetery is located east of Burlington off of Highway 20 on Gardner Road. Please use the south cemetery entrance. Parking is available next to the cemetery office. The tour lasts approximately one hour and short periods of standing followed by some walking will be necessary for the tour.  If you do not wish to stand during the hour long program it is suggested that you bring along a folding lawn chair to carry with you as the tour moves from grave site to grave site. The program is free and appropriate for teens and adults. Space is limited to 50.
